Mobility Scooters
When in need of help to move around you may want
to consider a mobility scooter rather then an electric
wheelchair. Mobility scooters usually move faster
then a wheelchair and they are more durable and
supportive, overall making them a safer choice.
There are a few varieties of mobility
scooter. There are both three-wheel and four-wheel
types of mobility scooter. Mobility scooters also
come in either front end or rear end drive. All
mobility scooters use a handlebar similar to that
of a bicycle. They are steered using this handlebar
and your speed is controlled by knobs. Usually they
range in speed of one through five miles per hour.
Mobility
scooters also use gel batteries and can be dissembled
easily making it good to transport.
A front wheel drive mobility scooter is ideal for
indoors. They can also be used outdoors but should
be used on level land. They battery life of front
wheel drive mobility scooters is five to ten miles
between charges. Rear wheel drive mobility scooters
are more ideal for outdoor use. They have a longer
battery life, averaging fifteen to twenty miles
between charges. They are also ideal for heavier
people carrying up to 350 lbs on most models and
some models being able to handle 500 lbs.
There are plenty of stores and online sites offering
mobility
scooters to consumers. This makes shopping for
your individual requirements much easier. Many stores
also offer specialized services such as maintenance,
repairs and provisions of spares like cushions,
tires and batteries. Whatever your needs, there
is a mobility scooter out there for you.
