It is generally understood that the more your body weight is, the more susceptible you are to heart disease and in need of new or used EKG machines. In addition, how you carry the weight could be a factor as well. The distribution of your body fat could be an important aspect of heart disease risk.
The shape of your body can tell a lot about the distribution of fat in your body. If your body is more of an apple shape, most of your fat in your abdomen. Having a majority of your fat in your abdomen could put you more at risk for heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes and high blood pressure.
If you have a pear shaped body, more fat is in your thighs and hips. Pear shaped people are less at risk for heart disease than apple shaped people, and have a tendency to have higher HDL cholesterol (“good” cholesterol).
Men have a higher tendency to be apple shaped while women tend to be pear shapes. In addition, apple shaped children have more heart disease risk factors and need for medical products than pear shaped children.
Even people who are not necessarily overweight, but have apple shaped bodies, have higher risk factors for heart disease. While it may be difficult to change the way your body natural distributes its fat, if you have more of an apple shaped body, it’s good to work on maintaining a healthy body weight. Maintain a regular exercise regime, and cut down on high-fat and high-sugar foods so you don't find yourself in need of new or used medical equipment.
